One may think that a gory cult classic horror film like Evil Dead 2 and a family based home shopping network like QVC may be next to impossible to link in six degrees or less, but one would be quite wrong.
A couple years ago, when I was in the height of my QVC watching days, (I never dared buy anything, nor did I even want to, I was quite simply unjustifiably addicted), I saw a gentleman named Rick Domeier (pronounced dough-myer) hawking all kinds of useless products and inventions that would surely revolutionize my life, if only I had the money to shell out. Not being overly interested in the alarm clock that doubled as a microwave and tripled as a magnifying glass, I was simply transfixed with the Domeier. I couldn't get enough of the dorky little man in the turtleneck and I wasn't entirely sure why. Then, a few months later, it hit me. First, I needed to stop watching QVC and do something with my life and second, I knew this Rick Domeier character from somewhere else and I needed to figure out where from. I ended up accomplishing only one of these tasks and as i'm sure you've already figured out, it was the least productive of the two.
At first, I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I knew him from. Cut to another few months later and me watching Evil Dead 2 (the best of the series, thank you very much) for the umpteenth time and it all became clear as a kandarian demon to me. Rick Domeier is in one of my favorite horror films of all time!
How did this man go from Evil Dead 2 to goody two shoes host of QVC! I couldn't believe my eyes. Most exciting news of all to me was that, much to my surprise, Domeier does not shun his appearance in the film in favor of his new tv persona. It seems he still appears at horror conventions to meet and greet the fans. Kudos to you, Mr. Domeier.
Just thought i'd share this interesting little tidbit now that I have a place to share such interesting little useless tidbits. Now if I can only link him to Kevin Bacon...
Rick Domeier was in Evil Dead 2 with Bruce Campbell
Bruce Campbell was in The Hudsucker Proxy with Tim Robbins
Tim Robbins was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon
Bingo! I will rest easy tonight.
