Freddy Krueger The Rap Star!

Photobucket

You may think everyone's favorite slasher isn't very multi faceted. Sure, he loves to kill sleeping teens in the most creative ways imaginable, but aside from that he really doesn't have much else going for him in the form of hobbies....or does he?

What you may not know about Fred is that he went through a phase of his life as a would be rap star. Don't believe me? Check out this awesome 80's video of Krueger rapping with The Fat Boys, in a song titled "Are You Ready For Freddy?"

Yes, that's the real Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund. Here's a video of an old CNN news interview with Freddy and The Fat Boys...

Now Freddy's done a good enough job proving that he's the hippest and baddest ass slasher of them all, but this is perhaps the hardest most undeniable proof of that fact that's out there. Do you see Jason rapping? Do you see Myers rapping? Those motherfuckers can't even talk!

Freddy's not in this one, but we cannot leave it out. Here's the Will Smith/DJ Jazzy Jeff hip hop song "Nightmare On My Street", a loving ode to the christmas sweater wearing mofo. There was no actual video made for this song, so this is just a fan made version, but it's the lyrics you should be paying attention to anyway...

Thanks to my pal Brad for bringing this gem to my attention. Check out his horror movie reviews on his blog

But let's not leave out Freddy's other musical talents. It wasn't just rap he tackled, he also had a stint as a bit of a rock star. Behold the awesomeness of the Dokken video "Dream Warriors", featuring Krueger himself!

So in conclusion, I ask you, is there anything Freddy can't do?

That's what I thought.

I'm like a senior citizen grasping at the concept of cool.

Wasn't Freddy also in that bad song at the end of Nightmare 5?
