Inglourious Basterds - No Review Necessary

Photobucket

I'm gonna keep this short, i'm gonna keep this sweet, and i'm gonna keep this to the point. There really is no need for me to review Tarantino's latest flick because, quite simply, anyone who digs his shit has either already seen it or is going to go see it as soon as they possibly can - nobody needs me to tell them it's gonna be worth their hard earned dollars. Thus, as I stated in the title, a traditional review really isn't even necessary for this movie. Here's the bottom line....

As with everything Tarantino makes, this movie is a genius piece of filmmaking. If you love his stuff, you will love Basterds. If you don't like or just don't 'get' his stuff, you probably won't like it. Plain and simple, cut and dry, black and white. If sitting down to watch over two and half hours of characters spitting out Tarantino's brilliant dialogue and blowing each other to pieces isn't your cup of tea, then don't even bother seeing it. That's really all there is to it. If you're like me and love everything the man is about, you will bear witness to almost 3 hours of sheer entertainment that will still leave you begging for more. And that's saying something because I don't generally like long movies. With Tarantino, the more the better.

I guess the real question would be - Is Basterds Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece? He seems to think so and in fact even the last line of the film makes that bold claim that what we just watched was in fact his ultimate masterpiece, and I can't say I don't agree with that. I'm still kind of torn between it and the Kill Bill saga - both of which I like in equal amounts - but I certaintly could never argue against Basterds being called a masterpiece. The acting is INCREDIBLE, jews are scalping nazi's left and right, and Eli Roth aka "The Bear Jew" is beating in heads with baseball bats - can you really ask for anything more out of a movie-going experience?

Excellent film. Probably my favorite of his so far. If Christof Waltz doesn't get at least a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Col. Landa there is NO justice in Hollywood. He was hands down probably one of my favorite movie characters in the last 5 years. That cat was epic!

Agreed. Waltz was amazing. One of the best performances i've seen in the last several years.

Tarantino on Howard Stern said that in spelling "Bastards" wrong, he was putting his artistic stroke on the movie. This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece for Tarantino in my opinion. To even fathom making a movie like this one is pure genius. I loved everything Tarantino about this movie; the plot, the characters and the amazing acting, the romanticism, the revenge, the contradiction, the flawless scences where tragic dead is so bittersweet, and romantic. The reasons I consider this film over Kill Bill (which is by the way still fukin awesome)to be Tarantinos Masterpiece is a)rewriting one of the most devistating events in our history b)the balls it takes to put a movie like this out there, its a much more serious work on a still very delicate event c)unexaggerated portrayal of basic human instinct and reaction and d)it really got me thinking...

Well I dunno about either loving or hating his stuff. I don't recall ever actually saying I hated a movie of his but I don't recall saying I loved them all either. Like most movies this looks pretty good from the commercials so..... to an extent it's good to read others reviews even if they are usually right about reviews they give meaning I've already seen it and agree or happen to agree afterwards lol in the end lol the opinion that matters most is my own.... hmmm def will be seeing it though and I do hope I agree because I want to like this movie a lot. Annnddd yum saw a dude that looked a lot like a younger Brad Pitt yesterday on campus x-D. Hooootttt.

I think this is arguably QT's best work. If you don't love Inglourious Basterds, you probably don't love movies.
