Before I get into this episode I just want to mention that True Blood has perhaps the greatest intro in TV history, does it not? Even when I re-watched season 1 on DVD I did not skip the intro during any of the episodes, which is something that is very rare for me. I normally hit the 'next scene' button on my remote and skip right past intros but I could never bring myself to do that with True Blood. The whole thing really pumps me up for the show and it just wouldn't feel the same without it. Pretty sure i'm not alone on that one but we're here to discuss last night's episode so lets get into it....
Godric obviously ruled this episode and i'd be interested to hear what you guys think of him now that we know a little bit more about him. As much as I would've loved to see the massacre in the church and as much as i'm dying to see Steve get killed, i'm really digging the Gandhi esque turn Godric has taken. The whole plotline is obviously a jab at us Americans who instead of evolving have only gotten more violent and i'm interested to see where they go with it. If only we had a leader like Godric, eh? I just hope this doesn't bring an end to the blood and murder of season 2 and i'm really hoping we get to see Steve get killed before the season comes to a close. PLEASE!
Eric was another standout this week, with his acting like a human to fool the vamp hunters and his "you don't understand/I don't understand" line to Sookie being two highlights of the episode. Eric continues to be one of my favorite characters and it seems like he gets cooler and more fleshed out with each passing episode. But what exactly does he want with Sookie?
Jason is back! As much as I liked the storyline and his descent into Christianity, i'm glad to see him denounce it all and go back to his old ways. His line about heaven being between Sarah's legs was definetly the quote of the night.
Wait a second, I just thought of something. If Godric is all peaceful and coexistant with humans, why did he kill Gabe at the beginning of the episode? And what was with Gabe saying "it's me" before he got his neck snapped? Not that I disagree with him killing Gabe as he was about to rape Sookie, but it seems to go against his new belief system. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
Jessica's hymen repairs itself and thus keeps her an eternal virgin. How clever is that! I love the vampire rules this show has set forth and they've really come up with some new ideas we've never had presented to us before in past vampire material. Just goes to show that good writers can come up with new shit even when working within one of the oldest sub-genres in the genre. Once again, I hope things work out for Hoyt and Jessica and I hope they finally get to make uninterrupted and unpainful love!
Bill smashing the flat screen over Lorena's head.....another highlight of this episode. Cannot stand that bitch and no, I don't feel bad for her in the least. Wahhhhh, Bill doesn't love me anymore. You should've hit her harder, Compton! Unfortunately it doesn't look like this bitch is going anywhere and the preview for the next episode seems to suggest that she's about to become even more powerful.
Anyone else think Tara is headed down a dark dark road that she may never come back from? I really can't see how she could ever go back to normal after consuming a co-worker's heart and i'm starting to get the feeling she may be done for real soon or just might become permanently evil. Just a thought and i'm usually wrong with my predictions when it comes to this show which is actually a good thing as it proves just how unpredictable it can be. All I know for sure is, a major character WILL be dying real soon. Will Maryann finally put an end to Sam?
Is the whole building gonna explode at the start of the next episode?! Obviously not (most major characters would be lost!) but i'm wondering how they're gonna prevent it as it sure looked like homeboy had his finger firmly pressed on the trigger when this episode came to a close. Failed detonation, perhaps? Guess we'll just have to wait till next Sunday to find out!
Speaking of which....

Anyone want to wager any guesses on who Bill is seen biting in that video? Looks like his mean streak is coming back!

If my hymen regenerated every time I'd throw myself into the sun or run into a stake lol no joke. I came into this season show at 2.6 to see the big deal and I'm hooked on this show now.
I'm sad Lorena was kicked outta town by Godric but I love to hate her so I hope she don't disappear from the show with her crazy self.
Maryann I hate that b-word lol
I really enjoyed this episode. I can't help but cringe when I see the time passing by so quickly while watching these episodes lately as they always leaving me wanting more. That scene with Tara and Eggs eating the stew nearly had me puking up dinner! gross! The whole Gabe telling Godric "its me" thing was really strange and has me wondering if Godric set his capture up to get his point accross or perhaps to get what everyone else seems to want lately(even Eric)...some of Sookie?
I'm definitely suss on Godric's motives being 'caught' by the bible bashers. However for me Eric rocked this episode, debonair and menacing, heroic *sigh*! Mary-Anne is one twisted bitch and I agree with the above Tara is on a way way ticket to trouble town!

You can definitely tell they're building up Eric to be a new love interest for Sookie, and it's fast making me a member of Team Eric. I really hate Lorena too. Someone better stake the bitch SOON. I cannot stand another second of her on my screen. Someone grab another plasma tv! That hunter souffle really was disgusting. And Tara and Eggs still ate it, even though it was all bloody. How weird.I wonder who will be dying soon. Hmmm...
OMG - Glad you've gotten into the show! Did you go back and watch all the previous episodes?
Spencer - The reason Tara and Eggs ate that bloody mess was because they were under Maryann's 'spell' and thus would do anything she wanted them to do.
If they keep up the caliber of these episodes till the end of the season I'll be happy.. Eric, Maryanne and Godric are the best additions to this show.. they've made me forget about Lafayette since his role is much minimized this season.. Jason came to his senses(what little he has)! It will be sad to see the religious aspect of the show possibly going away, that shit was a constant source of humor for me..
Anyone got some Hunter Soufflé?? That shit looks GOOD!
It'll be interesting to see how last week's cliff-hanger pans-out. Seems like the vamps coulda/shoulda been all over that "Campus-Crusade-For-Christ" asshole in an undead nano-second soon as he opened his jacket.
I love the unexpected and perfectly timed comic moments. Eric as the googly-eyed hillbilly was hilarious.
As for Godric, wonder what we're actually witnessing here? Is he really the "peace, love & home-cookin" vampire saint he's making out to be? Are we looking at a coming vampire civil war among the disaffected not going for the boy-sheriff's "love me, love my pets" philosophy? Or...?
Cool blog here.
Brian - It does seem like an all out war is gonna erupt in these next few episodes. I say bring it on!
nah i might when the season is over. @ Johnny
The music during the credits makes me think the bomb is a "time bomb" which might mean, pushing the trigger begins a countdown to detonation, not detonation itself.. A vampire civil war... interesting idea, it sounds perfectly reasonable that there will be.. half of them hate the idea of mainstreaming, and now here's one of the oldest ones pushing that idea, or at least the idea of moving away from middle ages type behavior.. Will be interesting to say the least!
