Step Inside The Munster Mansion!

Photobucket

This is the coolest thing ever and it came from the most unlikeliest of places - the new issue of 'Everyday With Rachel Ray' magazine. No I didn't buy it but it did stumble into my life the other day and although I couldn't care less about Rachel Ray or her magazine, the new Halloween issue does have some pretty cool stuff in it. One of them being what we're here to talk about - The Munster Mansion! For anyone who lives in or near Texas, you're gonna wanna listen up. I am incredibly jealous of you right about now....

Sandra and Charles McKee of Waxahachie, Texas are such Munsters buffs that they spent more than $300,000 to design their own home to be an EXACT replica, inside & out, of the famous home of Herman, Lily, Grandpa, Eddie, and Marilyn. I shit you not, when I was younger, my dream was to someday build an exact replica of the Full House house for myself - a dream I admittedly haven't fully shed - but i'm pretty certain this is much much cooler. While the house is not yet open for year round tours (but will someday be), the McKee's (who naturally dress up as Herman and Lily) throw a party year round on Halloween Eve and Halloween Night at their house and it's totally open to the public for a small fee ($20 for adults, $12 for children), with all of the proceeds going to Meals on Wheels. The event has been held every year since 2006 (how did I just find about this now, through Rachel Ray, no less?) and this year Pat Priest (who played Marilyn) will be at the party signing autographs! For all the details and to see pictures of the interior and exterior of The Munster Mansion, head over to the official website.

Being that this event is run for charity and is paid for out of pocket by the McKees, they would appreciate any and all donations, big or small, so drop them an e-mail at contact@MunsterMansion.com with the subject "Donation" if you'd like to help out. You can also e-mail the same address with the subject "Volunteer" if you live in the Waxahachie area and would like to volunteer to help out with the annual event.

While Texas is halfway across the country from me and while this is way too short of notice to attend this year, lets just say I have a new addition to my ever growing bucket list....

Anybody reading this who happens to be located in the Texas area and would like to cover the event for Freddy In Space?! Just checkin!

I totally want a house like the Addams Family. And I can respect your desire for the Full House house. It was cozy lol

Totally sweet. I would love to have a home/shop modeled after the Curious Goods store from "Friday the 13th: The Series". I am NOT kidding!

My dream home!

I wanted to live with The Munsters when I was a kid.

I hope that the staircase rises so Spot has a place to hide!

Sweet! This is a little over 2 hours from my place. We will be heading to Dallas on the 24th for Star Wars Fan Days so I plan to stop by just to see it in person. I would love to go to the event, but we already have plans for Halloween weekend.

I heard about this house in 2004 and moved to Texas in 2005. I've been wanting to go here every year and this year I am finally getting my wish. A group of 10 of us are going tomorrow night. I'll let you know how it is!
