When I wrote up my review for that film back in 2008, I mentioned how it was Knautz's first and that "I for one hope we see a lot more of his work in the future." Three years later and it looks like that hope is about to come true in a big way.

Though it hit the festival circuit late last year, Jon Knautz' second feature film The Shrine is set to be released On Demand July 15th of this year. While Jack Brooks was a throwback to the gooey and creature filled horror comedies of the 80's, it's looking like this one is more in the style of moody, atmospheric and satanic flicks like The Wicker Man and Black Sunday. I could give ya the brief plot rundown but i'd rather just turn you onto the full trailer, which looks pretty promising if you're askin' me.
An evil Pazuzu looking statue, an iron maiden mask and Jack Brooks himself reuniting with Knautz? Count me right the hell in! Looks like Knautz is out to prove that he's more than just a horror comedy guy and I hope like Eli Roth and Adam Green before him he hammers that into all of our faces come July 15th. Who's with me?!

I've been keeping a close eye on this one for a long time. Ever since I saw Jack Brooks. That movie kicks ass!
