Now it's possible that others have noticed what Dustin recently noticed but being that i'm a mega fan of both Ernest P. Worrell (and Ernest Scared Stupid, in particular) as well as Killer Klowns From Outer Space and I never noticed it before, I can only assume it has slipped past many others too. So get ready to have your mind blown.

This past weekend, Dustin was watching Ernest Scared Stupid, Ernest's nearest encounter with the horror genre, as he had done so many times in the past. But this time, he noticed something for the first time; two of the Killer Klowns From Outer Space appear in the film to terrorize our pal Jim Varney. I shit you not. The Chiodo Brothers, who created Killer Klowns and designed all of the Klowns for it, also created the trolls for Ernest Scared Stupid, which was made just a couple years afterwards. It seems they either got lazy or just wanted to throw in a little homage to their own movie, because two of the trolls in Ernest Scared Stupid wear masks from Killer Klowns, only slightly modified to look less like clowns and more like trolls!
Check out a clip from the film which shows off the two masks, which are best seen at the 4:40 and 6:31 marks. The clip also shows, as Dustin noted in the e-mail he sent me, that the trolls die in very much the same way the Klowns do in Killer Klowns, with the light show spectacular ushering them back to hell.

Too cool. I love little things like this. Thank you so much Dustin for giving me even more of a love and appreciation for Ernest Scared Stupid. Kinda ashamed to admit it, but I didn't even realize the Chiodo's did the creature effects for that film until you pointed it out to me!

I have been obsessed with Ernest scared stupid forever! The opening credits sequence is my favorite of any movie, ever. I digress, this information is very cool and I'll be looking for them next time I watch this classic! Thanks for sharing!
I could never start my own blog. If I had one, I would have probably been busy writing and not watching Ernest on Saturday....and I would have never noticed this. My laziness makes me watch more movies and read more horror mags, which makes me notice the stuff to send to you.
I love both films, but it's little tidbits like this that really make being a fan rewarding. Great eye, Dustin!
