Very saddened this afternoon to hear that actor David Hess, best known in the genre for his role as Krug in the original Last House on the Left, apparently passed away today at the age of 69. This news comes courtesy of Hess' Facebook page, which his kids hopped on today to post this tragic status update ...
"It is with great sadness that we have said our last goodbyes to our beloved dad and friend to all. David passed away peacefully last night. The Mad Hessian lives on in his family, friends, and all of his devoted fans. Sing a song in celebration of his life."
Not gonna say I knew Hess more than anybody else who is a fan of his vast work in the genre, but I had the pleasure of chatting with him several different times on Myspace a couple years back, and he was always really nice to me. We talked about the Last House filming locations as well as the remake of the film and I always got a kick out of how nice the guy who played one of the realest and scariest villains ever in a horror film seemed to be. Looking at his Facebook wall, which is currently being flooded with fan memories and similar sentiments, David was always happy to talk with his fans through platforms like Facebook and MySpace, which really shows how good of a guy he was.
Now the really strange thing about this that is creeping me out quite a bit right now is that Hess was actually in one of my dreams last night. I really don't remember anything specific about the dream, but I do remember that I was some sort of stunt driver for the movies and that he was in it. You can imagine the chills I got when I popped on Facebook this afternoon and saw that he had passed away ...
But anyway, this obviously isn't about me. I'd like to send my condolences to the entire Hess family, who must be so proud of the talented musician and actor they got to share their lives with over the years. David, you will be missed by all of us, friends, family and fans, and may you rest in peace.

Thank you for posting this, Im subscribed to several horror blogs and lurk around on a bunch of horror communities, and would you believe your post is only one out of two who mentioned this?
I was so sad to hear of his death and then to realize none of the horror communities or blogs I read even mentioned it about near made me want to cry, so thank you again for taking the time out of your day to offer condolences and remember someone who had so much talent.
The mark he's made on the genre is a pretty large one if ya ask me and thus, it wouldn't be right for any horror themed website to not give this sad news at least a brief mention.
