This week i've got three trailers to share with ya, one a voyeuristic trip inside the home of a young couple, one a documentary of a genre legend and the final one a bizarre and grotesque first look at a mysterious upcoming film!
388 ARLETTA AVENUE
Shot from the point of view of hidden cameras, the film follows a thirty-something couple, James and Amy Deakin, as they are secretly videotaped 24/7 by a mysterious stalker in their home, on the streets, and at their workplace. The stalker uses information gleaned from the footage to subtly manipulate the unsuspecting couple, and cracks in their relationship surface. When Amy suddenly vanishes, James is not sure whether she has been abducted or has simply left him. As the acts of the tormentor become more twisted and violent, James desperately tries to figure out who is behind the terror in order to save his wife. But it seems the stalker is always one move ahead...
Paranormal Activity meets home invasion, eh? If nothing more, it looks to be an inventive and original take on the whole found footage phenomenon. Looks creepy. Count me in.
CORMAN'S WORLD
... tracks the triumphant rise of the true “godfather” of independent filmmaking, Roger Corman. The single most prolific writer-director-producer, Corman financed hundreds of profitable low-budget films and helped launch the careers of Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, James Cameron, and many more. With archival footage of American culture and countercultures from the 1950’s to present day, and dynamic interviews with alumni of Corman’s cutthroat school of filmmaking, Corman’s World takes us back to the days when Corman was King.
Now this just looks plain fun. Got invited to a screening in the city next month and i'm thinking i'll have to make a night out of it!
THANATOMORPHOSE
So Thanatomorphose is a French word meaning "the visible signs of an organism’s decomposition caused by death" and the only information given about the film's plot is as follows; "One day, a young and beautiful girl wakes up and finds her flesh rotting...". At the moment, that is all that is known about the movie, with this being the first of two teaser trailers that will lead to a Spring 2012 full trailer release. I'm loving the mystery of it all and from what this teaser shows, it looks like this is gonna be one hell of a bizarre and disgusting experience. I like bizarre. And disgusting. I'm sold.
