It's Time! Win Michael Rooker's Signed Severed Hand!!

Photobucket

So remember before I left for Monster Mania last week I told you fine folks that if you helped get the Freddy In Space Facebook page to reach a milestone 2,000 'likes' by Saturday afternoon I'd meet Michael Rooker at the show and have him sign a severed hand prop I whipped up, in reference to the fact that Rooker's character on the show cut his own hand off in order to escape a pipe he was handcuffed to on a zombie infested roof? Well, to my delight, the fan page in fact did reach 2,000 likes, before the convention even began. For that, I must offer a huge thank you to all who helped get it there. Being a man of my word, I have returned from Monster Mania with the signed hand and I'm now ready to find a good home for it. But first, a little bit about my experience with the man, the myth, the Rooker.

I'm certainly not gonna judge Rooker based on one meeting, and I heard other stories from friends over the weekend about how cool he was, but if I'm being honest my personal experience with the man left me with a fairly bad taste in my mouth. It wasn't that he was mean or anything, he just kinda ... treated me like I wasn't really even there, paying $30 to meet him. Granted this was towards the end of his signing shift on Friday night, and he was probably tired and bored, but he didn't react to anything I said and I really felt like he wanted to be anywhere but there in that moment, meeting me. Though his handler was impressed by the fact that I made a little severed hand for him to sign, and tried to get Rooker to be impressed too, The Rook was havin' none of it.

That said, I did see him the following day on an elevator and we shared a quick exchange of hello's, wherein he seemed a whole lot more friendly. So I'm gonna give the man the benefit of the doubt, since I like him so damn much, and say that he was just tired on Friday night. Still not really any excuse for not being friendly in the least to a fan who paid good money to meet ya, but what can ya do? All that really matters here is that I did what I came to do; get the hand signed!

Photobucket

Seeing as how I made ya guys do some work just to get this giveaway going, I'm gonna make entering as easy as possible. So if you want the signed severed hand, all you've gotta do is leave me a comment below with your e-mail address and a brief little blurb about why you dig Michael Rooker, just so I know that you're truly a fan who wants this. As an added bonus for those who did pimp the Facebook page, provide me with proof that you did (a link or screen grab will do) and I'll toss in an extra entry for you. Deadline for entries will be next Monday, March 19th at midnight.

Good luck to all! Oh and if you're wondering if Merle will be back on The Walking Dead in the future, a little birdie told me Season 3 starts filming soon and that Rooker won't have much free time once it does. Oops, did I just say that?

Because he loves chocolate covered pretzels as much as I do.

This is why I love Michael Rooker!

If you shoot someone in the head with a .45 every time you kill somebody, it becomes like your fingerprint, see? But if you strangle one, stab another, and one you cut up, and one you don't, then the police don't know what to do. They think you're four different people. What they really want, what makes their job so much easier, is pattern. What they call a modus operandi. That's Latin. Bet you didn't know any Latin, did you kid?

I love Rooker, I was so happy to see him in The Walking Dead. He just keeps popping up in movies/shows that I like (Criminal minds, Mallrats, Henry: Portrait of a serial killer..). I'm also glad he was in the short for Repo! The Genetic Opera, while I love him I am glad they went with Anthony in the full length haha. This is an awesome giveaway!

I've been a big fan of his since I seen him in "Henry: portrait of a serial killer" I was about 9 or 10 when I seen it on HBO while my parents were upstairs in their room. I turned the channel when I heard them come down the stairs. I did that a lot those days but I remember "Henry: portrait of a serial killer" the most.

I think he's got a great screen presence, love seeing him in all his roles, and he's sexy as hell!

I remember back in the 80's and seeing Rooker in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Although he was considered a 'bad guy', I dug his performance. I also remember him opposite of Stallone in Cliffhanger. I remember thinking he should have been the hero of that movie. I've always enjoyed his performances and found him to be entertaining.

Am I a Rooker fan? One Valentine's Day, I took my date to see The Replacement Killers. All the more impressive considering that Titanic was in theaters at the time. I like seeing Rooker in those odd roles where he's not quite so batcrap crazy. Keys to Tulsa. The Dark Half. I suppose my favorite Rooker role is in Mississippi Burning where he's cast totally against type, playing a Mississippi redneck rather than an Alabama redneck.

I did what Facebook pimping I could, which wasn't much as I only have three friends. And I had an injured tongue.

Because he stuffed his girlfriend in a suitcase and left her on the side of the road. Why? Because he fucking loved her... he guesses.

I've dug Rooker in many parts, but the first movie I remember him in was Mallrats as the asshole dad Svenning. Funny shit.

But I would have to say my favorite movies with him would be Slither and a more recent appearance in the gory but non-horror flick Super.

I've been a huge fan of his ever since the first time I saw Henry when it came out on VHS. I love that no matter whether it's a serious movie like that or a comedy like Mallrats he's completely believable in his role. Winning that hand would slightly make up for not getting to go to Monster Mania to meet him. mr durden 21 at hotmail dot com (no spaces)

I'm a huge Michael Rooker fan! I love Slither, Henry, and (of course) the Walking Dead! I don't think a movie has ever made me more uncomfortable than Henry did and that's probably why it's one of my favorites.

I have been a BIG Michael Rooker FAN ever since I saw him in Slither! That is when I had first become a BIG FAN of his from there on! His performance as Grant Grant was brilliant! And I really loved how he was transformed (or obsorbed) and had changed into that slug-like monster! That monster has got to be one of the creepiest lookin' monsters I have ever seen on screen! Jabba the Hutt has nothing on Michael Rooker as the slug-monster! I'm telling ya! But I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy all of the work I have discovered that Michael Rooker has done since doing Slither. He's a great actor! I love his work!

Personally, I fucking love Michael Rooker because he's such a bad ass. He has a classical feel to him (I know that probably doesn't make sense) but I feel like he's up there with the likes of Robert Englund. He's an amazing actor, and I definitely can't wait to see what's in store for Season 3 ;) Thanks for an awesome contest btw!

Pretty similiar experience with Rooker was had by myself as well Sat afternoon. But it was worth it to get him and Tom Towles to sign my Henry dvd. Gunnar Hansen was definelty the freindliest celeb at the show as well as Tom Towles. Lyoyd Kaufman gave me his Class of Nuke'em High pin off his jacket after asking him to sign the DVd i had brought with me.

Loooove Henry portrait of a serial killer. As a kid that movie seemed real. Like a snuff film or something. Scared the crap outta me. He's great in mallrats too. You shoulda wiped your butt with your hand when you met him and got him to eat some chocolate covered pretzels. Ha.

He is an excellent actor. Of course I really enjoyed Henry but my favorite movie with him in it Is Slither! I am still on the look for something cool and slimy to have him sign. How he keeps up the great work.
John, maybe he's a method actor and has to be grumpy and disinterested for a role. ;-)

He reminds me of a grumpy old cook, I knew. Puts on this attitude. But tender heart underneath. I am glad he will be showing up in the 3rd season, of The Walking Dead

I dig Michael Rooker because in every film I've seen him in (and even his Scream Queens appearance on TV), I found him to be very believable. It sounds like you found that he embodies his character off-screen as well when he treated you like that ;)

I dig Rooker because he's a damn good actor that portrays great characters. It's rare to see someone so effectively play a chilling serial killer such as Henry and then an over-the-top, comedic character like Grant Grant in Slither. Plus he's been in a ton of other great projects - Tombstone, Mallrats, Mississippi Burning, Cliffhanger, Super, The Walking Dead... the list goes on. Damn, what a resume.

I will always love Rooker because his portrayal as Henry is one of the few that can still, after watching thousands of horror flicks over the years, creep me out.

I of course have to go with Henry. To this day one of my favorite films. He was great in Slither of course. In non horror I really liked him in JFK and he owned in Mallrats.

Been a fan of Michael Rooker since I first seen Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer in high school. The guys is awesome in everything he's done. From Henry,Tombstone to Mallrats(one of my favorites) and so many more.

Why do I dig Michael Rooker? Come on guys who doesn't? Are there actually people who don't? Shame, Shame on them. I think he's one hell of an actor, and I'd like to think if I was in a life or death situation then I'd definitely want his bad ass, no caring, to hell with it attitude in my corner. Plus his low pitched almost husky voice is definitely a bonus in the role of awesomeness....My favorite movie he was in was Slither. Loved his role and loved what he became so cool. Only wish he was featured more in the Walking Dead. Well I'm keeping my fingers crossed for next season. Rooker Rocks!!

Gotta be honest... If I had Rooker's severed hand, I'd... a.. you know... see if it really felt like someone else was doing it.

In fact, the only thing that might deter me from that, would be fear that you may have already done the same thing!

Because he is a superb actor and he didn't have shoes until the second grade. Pretty badass kid, if you ask me!

I'm a HUGE fan of The Walking Dead and I would love to add this amazing piece to my TWD collection!

Portrait of a serial killer was my first experiece with Rooker. And I still love the movie. But it was actually Mallrats that got me hooked. Been a huge fan of Mallrats since it released. Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel? Claybyrom@live.com
