Must Watch Documentary Short : Traces Of Analog

I really don't think it's necessary for me to hit the rewind button and remind you about my undying affinity for the undead format known as VHS, as I've surely beaten that decades long love into your head by now. I'm one of the many who still see the incredible value of the VHS tape, not only because of the nostalgic factor but also because there are still so many horror movies that exist only on VHS, with no hope of them ever making their way onto a 'living' format. In recent years, it's been music to my big box lovin' ears to discover that I'm not alone in this fascination ... not by a long shot.

Tonight a recently made 23 minute documentary came to my attention titled Traces Of Analog, which explores the importance of VHS in the life of the short's filmmaker Eileen Smith as well as the worldwide relevance of the VHS tape, here in the year 2012. Featuring conversations with several avid VHS aficionados, and alternately shot in high definition and analog video, it's a fascinating little insight into why those of us that love the format still to this day cherish it so much.

So adjust the tracking on your VCR and enjoy, fellow tapeheads. And remember; BE KIND, REWIND!

DID YOU KNOW? The last movie to be widely released on VHS was David Cronenberg's A History Of Violence, back in 2006.

That's so funny. My girlfriend and I were just talking about what the last movie to be released on VHS was. Ha. Cool.

Its interesting that they did`nt say anything about the VHS players because for some people they`ve become even more legendary and collectable than the actual tapes.
