Nearly two years ago now, I posted an incredibly interesting interview with Adam Barnick, a good friend of mine who has been hard at work the last several years making a name for himself as a filmmaker. After writing and directing an award winning short film called Mainstream, which was included on Fangoria's Blood Drive 2 DVD, Barnick ended up becoming known for directing kickass behind the scenes featurettes for horror home video packages, most notably the recent faves Grace & Frozen. Barnick's roots as a filmmaker/storyteller enabled him to turn out highly fascinating and incredibly informative mini documentaries, which helped those two DVD/Blu-ray releases stand out from the pack. Lest you think I'm saying this because I happen to be friends with Adam, I must mention that Frozen is to date Anchor Bay's top selling original home video release, which no doubt has at least a little something something to do with the extensive bonus features package.
Now the reason I bring up Barnick tonight is because right now he needs our help. Adam has his sights set on directing two upcoming music videos for the musician Nathan Amundson (aka Rivulets), a double feature passion project that will only come to fruition if he can raise the funds needed to pull it off. The mounting costs for things like studio space and airfare are simply too much for Adam to afford out of pocket, and he's turning to fundraising site Indiegogo, in an attempt to get this show on the road.
Though only one of the two music videos has some semblance of a 'horror' theme, I thought maybe some of you out there reading this right now who have enjoyed Adam's past work in the genre might want to contribute to the cause and help an incredibly talented filmmaker get his next project off the ground. I'm not just posting this because Adam is a friend of mine, but rather because I truly believe in what he's working towards here, and I'd hate to see this opportunity pass him by. And hey, it doesn't hurt that we're friends either. But seriously, dude is uber talented.
To get an idea of what you can expect from Adam Barnick as a music video director, check out his most recent project, a hauntingly beautiful video he directed for singer John Presnell. Again, it's not the kind of thing you'd normally see here on Freddy In Space, but I think you just might dig it.
As far as the fundraising campaign for the Rivulets videos goes, I had Adam write up a little blurb explaining a bit more about the campaign, so give that a read below if you're interested and then check out the Indiegogo fundraising video below that!
From
being profoundly affected by Nathan’s music to trying to put together
these two modest music videos from the ground up, this years-long quest
has been everything to me. Trying
to raise any kind of funding when living check-to-check, having
productions delayed/stopped by freak weather, personal injuries putting
dreams on hold and draining financial reserves..any indie filmmaker in
the trenches faces similar challenges. And sometimes you have to try and reach out for support. While
not specifically horror, the mood of “How, Who” and the eerie outline
of what we plan to do in the video will certainly appeal to genre fans
and people who’ve liked past work of mine. At
the campaign site, we’re detailing everything about the two projects,
and have plenty of good perks especially for fans of excellent
atmospheric music.
Learn
more and donate whatever you can over at Indiegogo. Thanks for reading
and please do spread the word on this to anyone you think might be
interested!
