The Cryptkeeper sure was a busy dude back in the 1990's. In addition to the hit TV series on HBO, spun off from the line of EC Comics, The Cryptkeeper also had his own animated series for kids, which lasted two seasons, and he even had himself his very own Saturday morning game show on CBS. Titled Secrets Of The Cryptkeeper's Haunted House, the short lived game show ran from September 1996 to August 1997 and featured children competing in various adventure obstacles, much like shows such as Nickelodeon's Guts that were all over the place at the time. Only this one was a little different. It was presented by The Cryptkeeper himself, who would chime in on the action from time to time, and it of course had a horror theme to it, with the Universal Studios Orlando set decked out to look like the 'keeper's own humble haunted abode. Whoever said the 90's weren't awesome?!
The show has pretty much been lost in the passage of time, with no home video releases of any kind that I'm aware of. Thankfully, some dude with a YouTube account was actually featured in one of the episodes of the show, and he uploaded that episode in full to the site, pulled from the VHS he taped it on back in 1996. As a result, the show has been preserved for us all. Such is the beauty of the internet, and the importance of us all making our own unique contributions to it!
This week, we head back to 1996 to check out an episode of CBS' Secrets Of The Cryptkeeper's Haunted House, a glorious fusion of two of the most awesome things from the decade; Tales From The Crypt & kids competition game shows. Enjoy this week's Vintage Video Of The Week, which is split into three parts!

Holy crap, I remember watching this show and I remember loving it. It was like a horror mashup with Legends of the Hidden Temple. Wow, I'm feeling really nostalgic now. It's a shame kids of this generation don't have shows like this to keep them entertained. Thanks for taking me back to my youth Johnny.
