With companies like Fright Rags and countless others that have come in their wake, it's a pretty damn glorious time to be a horror fan who wants to wear his favorite movies, rather than just watch them or hang them up on his walls. But it wasn't always that way. There was a time when very few horror movies were given the t-shirt treatment, and even when they were, they were a far cry from the kinda stuff Fright Rags is putting out nowadays. And they certainly weren't as easy to get your hands on!
Tonight, we pull from the Vintage Video Vault a short promo video from the late 80's, that was included on the original VHS release of Return Of The Living Dead Part 2, the fun sequel to the more fun 1985 classic. Lorimar Pictures teamed up with a company called Movie Tee's, a sort of proto-Fright Rags, to release a handful of shirts based on the movie, which could be ordered by mail or over the phone. They put together four different designs, three of which were white and available as a t-shirt, sweatshirt or tank top, and one black one, that was only available as a t-shirt or sweatshirt. All of them were printed with 'Puff Print' technology, meaning the designs were raised and rubbery, like all the cool kids in the 80's were rocking.
The only thing more awesome than the shirts themselves was the gloriously corny promo video for them, which featured a voice over narration that's sure to put a big ole smile on your face. So get ready to smile, and enjoy this week's Vintage Video Of The Week!!
