My buddy Jason West and his friend David Royal recently started a production company called Vultra Video, with the goal of making their own throwback style shot on video horror flicks. In an effort to raise the funds to get those movies in the can, and released onto VHS (how else?!), Jason and David have done something pretty awesome. Rather than taking to Kickstarter or asking for handouts, they've decided to instead also use the Vultra Video banner as a distribution company, and put out their own VHS releases of hard to find films, films that have likely flown under the radar for even the most seasoned of horror fans. Have you heard of Spine? Or Necro Files? If not, Vultra's here to introduce you to them. If you have, and you've always wanted to own them, Vultra's here to finally put them on your shelf!
You can learn all about Vultra Video, both as a production company, and a VHS distribution company, over on their Facebook fan page, as well as on their Facebook group and in the online shop, which is where you can purchase all of their tapes. The reason I'm saying this now is because you're gonna have to join the aforementioned Facebook group in order to enter this giveaway, so go ahead and get it out of the way right now, and browse around while you're there. I'll still be here when ya get back!
One of their most recent releases was 1995's Dead City, which also sometimes goes under the title Legion of the Night. Directed by Matt Jaissle, the film stars Bill Hinzman ('Cemetery Zombie' from the original Night of the Living Dead!) as a mad scientist with an interest in re-animating the dead. Long story short, the mob gets a hold of his research, and utilizes his creations to form an army of undead killing machines.
Dead City was only released once on VHS back in 1995, under the title Legion of the Night, and has yet to make its way onto DVD. Vultra's brand spankin' new VHS release is limited to only 50 copies and comes signed by director Matt Jaissle. The tape sells for $30 over in the Vultra Video shop, but right here, right now on Freddy In Space, you've got a chance to win one of two copies of the tape, absolutely free of charge ... because that's how we do it around here!
The grand prize winner will win tape #6/50, as well as three lobby cards and a poster, while the second place winner will receive tape #7/50. Though I've only got one set of lobby cards and one poster to give out, both copies of the tape are signed by the director, and will each come with a Vultra Video sticker.
If that sounds good, all you've gotta do to enter is join the Vultra Video group over on Facebook, and then leave me a comment below with your e-mail address, letting me know that you in fact did join the group. That'll be all. Deadline for entries is next Sunday night, December 9th, at midnight.
Good luck to all, and be sure to dig deeper into Vultra Video by liking the Facebook page and checking out the official website. Doing so is not required for entry, but you should do it anyway, because you may find something you like over there!
I leave you with Vultra Video's first project as a production company, the faux trailer for THE FUMIGATOR!
