Whatever Happened To ... Creepshow Raw?

 

Back in 2008, it was announced that Taurus Entertainment, who own the rights to Creepshow, had handed over the reigns of the franchise to HD Films, a company run by Jace Hall, who has created some popular horror inspired video games like Condemned and F.E.A.R.  The plan was for Hall and HD Films to turn Creepshow into a web-series, comprised of short films that would act as individual tales of horror, evoking the spirit of the Creepshow films.

On October 30th of 2009, the pilot episode of Creepshow Raw debuted on IGN.  Directed by That 70's Show's Wilmer Valderrama, the episode was titled Insomnia, and starred Michael Madsen as a drunken piece of shit step-father who gets what he deserves, courtesy of the monster living inside of his step-son's closet.

Not bad, eh?  Featuring original Creepshow music, art panels by one of my favorite artists, Alex Pardee, and a pretty kickass old school style monster (sorta Creepshow's Fluffy meets the freak from Castle Freak), the pilot episode showed a lot of promise for the series, and I personally was looking forward to seeing where it was headed.  Hell, this 8 minutes alone was 100x better than the entirety of Creepshow 3, that godawful 'sequel' we were forced to sit through back in 2007.

So .... whatever happened to Creepshow Raw?  I hate to conclude this post without answering that question, but quite frankly, nobody seems to know what happened.  Shortly after the first episode hit the net, the show all but disappeared, and future episodes were never aired, or even so much as mentioned.

I tried reaching out to Jace Hall on Facebook, several days ago, but I have yet to receive a response, and it's not looking like I'm going to be receiving one.  I will of course update this post if he does in fact respond, at some point, but for now, I really have no idea what happened to Creepshow Raw.  One of the great mysteries of the horror community, I suppose.

"THE RIGHTS HOLDER DID NOT WANT TO CONTINUE AT THAT TIME.  WE DISCUSS IT EVERY NOW AND THEN.  IT MAY COME BACK."
